Automation Engineer
Tree Composites is seeking an Automation Engineer with a strong focus on industrial automation tasks. If you have a passion for understanding and innovating the automation of composite materials manufacturing and are excited to work closely with our manufacturing engineers and researchers at TU Delft, then this role might be your next career step.
As Automation Engineer, you will develop and mature inhouse designed manufacturing solutions for high volume composite processing. You will also play an important role in supporting an upcoming European R&D project, aiming to develop a highly automated manufacturing line.
Company Background
Tree Composites aims to accelerate offshore wind deployment. We are designing and manufacturing composite joints for offshore wind foundations that enable faster manufacturing and lower steel use. We are a start-up, founded in 2020 to bring our disruptive technology from TU Delft research to the market.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop automation solutions from concept to production deployment
- Define, analyse, and select hardware components to meet automation requirements
- Program, maintain, and optimize PLC software
- Develop and maintain HMI systems
- Collaborate closely with composite and manufacturing engineers
- Provide technical support to internal users
- Proactively propose and implement improvements to functionality and performance.
Your Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, relevant specialisations include Systems & Control or similar automation-focused programmes
- 3+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with hands-on automation focus
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming, experience in platform selection is a plus
- Experience with robotics or motion control is an advantage
- Ability to design and document basic electrical circuits and cabinet wiring
- Understanding of pneumatic systems
- CAD proficiency
- Mechanical insight and the ability to work with machines as a complete system
- You are fluent in English. Fluency in Dutch is not required.
- A valid European Union work permit is required for this role.
